Pricing

I believe financial planning compensation should be flat fee, just like any other professional service. As such my rates are as follows:

  • Hourly financial planning and business consulting: $250 per hour, on-going planning starts at $1,500 per person, $3,000 per couple. I do not charge AUM fees, receive commissions, or have any other compensation.
  • Business accounting setup: based on complexity. Most owner-operator business setups are $1,500 including three meetings with accounting-based training.

Financial Philosophy
I look at finances in a comprehensive, holistic approach. We should allow our life to dictate how we spend and invest, but not let our spending and investing dictate our lives. This generally means a low debt, living within and under one's income, and automatic investment. Risk is required to meet goals, but I want to make sure you know and understand how much risk you are willing to and need to take to meet your goals. I want clients to enjoy life and be fruitful and productive, but not live one that is built around excessive spending or working for work's sake*. My holistic approach - creating and pursing life goals through managing your recourse, accomplishing more than just investment returns and tax rates. However, in order to reach your goals one must understand these details. Business needs should align with these goals, and accounting systems be simple yet robust.

For investments, I generally prefer low cost index funds that have shown a long-range and consistent history of beating the market. I follow a index core with a managed satellite; the managed portion being no more than 20% of the portfolio. I review funds and stocks based on their performance compared to benchmarks and appropriate risk factors and not based on total return alone. I favor term life insurance because it is low cost and allows you to use the savings to invest in your future. I am generally conservative in my interest rate assumptions, with hopes that you will have more money than you expected or you will be able to respond to life’s financial ups and downs. This being said, I’m more than able and happy to work with those who have different beliefs, whether it be a desire to have whole life insurance or a specialized investment portfolio.
